The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) observed a moment of quiet yesterday in honor of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Leopold Samba, the Central African Republic’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

The Acting High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nada Al Nashif, provided an oral update on the state of global human rights and the work of the Office of the High Commissioner as the Human Rights Council convened its fifty-first session yesterday morning.
